Tirumala temple closed on Jul 21, 2009
TIRUPATI: The hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala will remain closed from 9 pm on July 21 to 8 am on July 22 in view of the solar eclipse
on July 22.
Following the eclipse TTD has cancelled all morning sevas, including Ekantham. The general darshan for the pilgrims will commence at 11 am after performing the `suddhi' (cleansing) ritual. On July 21, the `Ekantha' seva to the Lord will be conducted at 10.30 pm instead of 12.30 am.
Goddess Padmavathi temple at Tiruchanoor, Appalayagunta temple, Narayanavanam temple, Nagalapuram temple, Srinivasa Mangapuram temple and other Vaishnavaite temples in and around Tirupati and Kanipakam Varasidhi Vinayaka temple will also remain closed during the eclipse.
The Vayulingeshwara temple at Srikalahasti will however remain open as there is no `graha dosha' for Lord Shiva. But the devasthanam authorities will perform a special `graha puja' on the eclipse day.
